On October 27, 2021, PeaceTrees VietNam handed over a cleared Confirmed Hazardous Area (CHA) to Nam Trach Commune People’s Committee under the witness of the Quang Binh Province’s Database and Coordinate Unit. This is the first CHA clearance task that has been accomplished by PeaceTrees Vietnam in Quang Binh.
In the morning of July 19th 2021, PeaceTrees VietNam received information from the Provincial Database Coordination Unit (DBCU) of Quang Binh province on an Explosive Ordnance (EO) found at Nam Ly No.1 Middle School, Nam Ly Ward, Dong Hoi City. While leveling the ground for constructing a concrete backyard, workers discovered a round metal item suspected to be a cluster bomb. Immediately, all construction activities were stopped and the case was reported to DBCU via hotline 1800 1741.
On the 15 July 2021, Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) Vietnam, represented by our Provincial Programme Manager (PPM) in Quang Binh province, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang could finally provide a new vehicle to the Quang Binh Provincial Mine Action Database and Coordination Unit (QB DBCU). The vehicle was provided for increased coordination of mine action and the event was witness by the leader from Quang Binh Department of Foreign Affairs (DOFA) - Ms. Do Thi Hoai Thu.
Following the visit to NPA’s operations in Quang Tri, on Tuesday, 30 March 2021, the delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi, the U.K. Embassy in Vietnam, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam National Mine Action Center also paid a visit to NPA’s operational site in Dong Thanh village, Nam Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province.
