Dong Hoi city lies alongside National Highway 1A, North-South railway and Ho Chi Minh road

• Adjacent to Bo Trach to the North
• Adjacent to Quang Ninh district to the South
• Adjacent to the East Sea to the East
• Adjacent to Bo Trach and Quang Ninh districts to the West
Dong Hoi city is in the central location of Quang Binh province and about 50km from Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park to the North, 50 km from Bang Mineral hot spring to the South. The distance from Dong Hoi city to Hon La seaport and Cha Lo international border gate is 60 km and 180 km in respective. It is located by the sea to the East with the coastline of 12km and having Nhat Le river running through along with other natural conditions such as river and lake system and forest in the western part of the city which are favorable for entertainment services and tourism development.
